In 2016, el Millennium Institute of Astrophysics MAS invited, for the very first time, students from Elementary and High School from Chile to imagine short stories about asteroids, in the context of the Asteroid Day, commemorated worldwide at the end of June. In 2020, and as a people’s request, it was added the category for +18 people.
In 2021 was held the celebration of the VI version of the Asteroid Day Short-story Contest, and thanks to a partnership with the Chilean Society of Astronomy (SOCHIAS), the dream of gathering the 14 stories that won within these six years was born.
We then called national Astro illustrators to imagine what would these stories look like. That’s how the book “Relatos Breves Día del Asteroide Ilustrados” born. It was launched on the Astronomy Day 2022.
