As every year, the Instituto Milenio de Astrofísica joins the International Night of Lunar Observation promoted by NASA. Until 11 September, amateur and professional astrophotographers can send their photographs of our natural satellite to compete in the 6th version of the 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐢́𝐚 𝐝𝐞 𝐥𝐚 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐚
Every year, Nasa invites enthusiasts and lovers of our natural satellite to gather and learn about the characteristics of the Moon and how important this object is for our planet. It also calls on institutions around the world, as well as private individuals and individuals, to carry out activities around it and celebrate the International Night of Lunar Observation, a commemoration that occurs annually between September and October, when the Moon is in the crescent phase, as it is one of the best times to observe it.
Echoing this call, Millennium Institute of Astrophysics organises the Moon Photo Contestwhich is now in its 6th version. In it, professionals, but mainly amateur astrophotographers, are invited to submit their photograph of this object, in two categories: Astrophotography and Citizen Photography. It also has a luxury jury formed by the astrophotographers Cari Letelier and Diego García Sánchez, as well as the artist Valeska Beamín, known as Art Beamín.
How to participate?
✅Submit your own photograph of the Moon in either of the following two categories
Citizen photography (where the Moon is in a context. For example, in a city, in the clouds, etc.)
🌕Astrophotography
In both categories, photographs can be taken with a camera or mobile phone.
✅The photograph must be sent to 𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐬@𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚.𝐜𝐥, indicating full name and category in which you are participating. Only one photograph per person.
✅Valid only in Chile from 30 August to 11 September at noon.
✅ The results will be delivered on Moon Observation Night 2024 on 14 September via the MAS Instagram account @astrophysicamas.
