Esa regi\u00f3n, llamada bulbo, tiene m\u00e1s o menos 1\/4 de la masa estelar de la V\u00eda L\u00e1ctea, mientras que los otros 3\/4 est\u00e1n en el disco, donde est\u00e1n los brazos de la espiral. El bulbo contiene estrellas bastante m\u00e1s viejas que las del disco, que ya estaban presentes en la fase inicial de formaci\u00f3n de nuestra galaxia. Guardan, entonces, tanto en sus superficies como en sus \u00f3rbitas algunas trazas de ese proceso, y pueden ayudarnos a entender c\u00f3mo pas\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>En el MAS estudiamos estas estrellas a trav\u00e9s del proyecto VISTA Variables in the V\u00eda L\u00e1ctea (VVV)<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/vvvsurvey.org\/\">https:\/\/vvvsurvey.org\/<\/a> que monitorea un \u00e1rea de 20&#215;15 grados cuadrados del bulbo. Tambi\u00e9n profundizamos el an\u00e1lisis de algunas estrellas usando espectroscop\u00eda. Los espectros estelares permiten medir abundancias qu\u00edmicas en la superficie de las estrellas, y sus velocidades a lo largo de la l\u00ednea de visi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>En este <a href=\"http:\/\/adsabs.harvard.edu\/abs\/2017A%26A...599A..12Z\">estudio<\/a> obtuvimos abundancias qu\u00edmicas y velocidades para una muestra de unas 5000 estrellas distribuidas en 26 campos a lo largo del bulbo gal\u00e1ctico.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Los resultados demuestran que las estrellas que contienen poco fierro en su superficie (que son las que se formaron antes) tienen una distribuci\u00f3n espacial esferoidal<\/strong>, <strong>y presentan una alta concentraci\u00f3n hacia el centro gal\u00e1ctico. Las estrellas cuya superficie es rica en fierro (\u00e9stas pertenecen a una segunda generaci\u00f3n) tienen una distribuci\u00f3n \u201crectangular\u201d<\/strong>, t\u00edpica de las barras presentes al centro de varias galaxias espirales, cuando son vistas de costado. La gran diferencia en la distribuci\u00f3n espacial de las dos componentes apunta a dos procesos de formaci\u00f3n distintos.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, las estrellas de cada componente tambi\u00e9n se diferencian en su distribuci\u00f3n de velocidades, lo cual confirma la conclusi\u00f3n anterior.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Es la primera vez que un estudio de este tipo se extiende tan cerca del centro gal\u00e1ctico con una muestra tan grande de estrellas en tantos campos diferentes.<\/strong> Nunca antes se hab\u00edan podido construir mapas como los que se muestran en la figura, con la
