El\u00e9ctrica UChile.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Para el a\u00f1o 2022 se espera la puesta en marcha del <em>Large Synoptic Survey Telescope<\/em> (LSST), el mayor telescopio gran angular del mundo,<\/strong> que estar\u00e1 ubicado en el cerro Pach\u00f3n, IV regi\u00f3n, Chile. La puesta en marcha del LSST dar\u00e1\u00a0 inicio a una <strong>nueva era en astrof\u00edsica<\/strong>, ya que el procesamiento de im\u00e1genes y datos en tiempo real llevar\u00e1 al l\u00edmite de sus capacidades a los actuales sistemas de procesamiento de datos. El LSST propone estudiar el cielo visible repetidamente 1000 veces durante un periodo de 10 a\u00f1os, creando 100 petabytes en archivos de im\u00e1genes y 20 petabytes de bases de datos para prop\u00f3sitos de investigaci\u00f3n. <strong>El an\u00e1lisis autom\u00e1tico de este gran volumen de datos impone desaf\u00edos en muchas \u00e1reas, entre ellos los algoritmos de <em>machine learning<\/em>, los cuales deben ser resueltos antes de la puesta en operaci\u00f3n del LSST.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, uno de los m\u00f3dulos desarrollados para el LSST, el <em>Moving Object Pipeline System<\/em> (MOPS), tiene como objetivo detectar e identificar trayectorias de asteroides. El sistema MOPS analiza las trayectorias para cada uno de los posibles candidatos a asteroides. Sin embargo, el ruido inherente en las im\u00e1genes genera una gran cantidad de falsos positivos y hace que la cantidad de candidatos sea muy alta. Esto implica un incremento del costo computacional de MOPS y dificulta el an\u00e1lisis en tiempo real.<\/p>\n<p><strong>En el MAS, en conjunto con el equipo del LSST de la Universidad de Washington, investigamos nuevas estrategias para optimizar el proceso MOPS en tiempo real.\u00a0<\/strong> Dentro de las estrategias para reducir la cantidad de datos en el proceso, trabajamos con el an\u00e1lisis no supervisado de im\u00e1genes y curvas de luz. <strong>En nuestro <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/chapter\/10.1007\/978-3-319-28518-4_9\">estudio <\/a>\u00a0propusimos una metodolog\u00eda que permite reducir la cantidad de datos mediante una apropiada agrupaci\u00f3n de estos y, al mismo tiempo,\u00a0 identificar la din\u00e1mica que genera el evento bajo estudio.<\/strong> Por otro lado, dentro de las estrategias para crear y seleccionar las caracter\u00edsticas m\u00e1s relevantes que discriminan entre asteroides y no-asteroides, trabajamos en la detecci\u00f3n e identificaci\u00f3n de grupos sin\u00e9rgicos de caracter\u00edsticas utilizando teor\u00eda de la informaci\u00f3n. En nuestras actuales investigaciones de estas estrategias, hemos encontrado que la identificaci\u00f3n de grupos de caracter\u00edsticas sin\u00e9rgicas mejora el desempe\u00f1o y clasificaci\u00f3n entre asteroides y no-asteroides, y a la vez nos permite comprender cu\u00e1les de ellas son las que dominan en cada clase.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15827\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15827\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.astrofisicamas.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_07_JVergara_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15827 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.astrofisicamas.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017_06_07_JVergara_2-1024x523.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"523\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15827\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Visualizaci\u00f3n de las 20 caracter\u00edsticas m\u00e1s relevantes (de un total de 200 caracter\u00edsticas) obtenidas de imagenes de asteroides\/no-asteroides de tama\u00f1o de 20&#215;20 pixeles.
