{"id":18377,"date":"2018-10-11T10:53:57","date_gmt":"2018-10-11T13:53:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.astrofisicamas.cl\/?p=18377"},"modified":"2023-08-04T21:08:51","modified_gmt":"2023-08-04T21:08:51","slug":"nuestra-investigacion-estudio-de-estrellas-azules-para-conocer-nuestra-galaxia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/astrofisicamas.cl\/en\/nuestra-investigacion-estudio-de-estrellas-azules-para-conocer-nuestra-galaxia\/","title":{"rendered":"Nuestra Investigaci\u00f3n: Estudio de estrellas azules para conocer nuestra galaxia"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><em><strong>Por Katherine Montenegro Armijo, estudiante de doctorado MAS y de la Universidad Andr\u00e9s Bello\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>El bulbo de la V\u00eda L\u00e1ctea es la regi\u00f3n de mayor densidad estelar de la Galaxia, pero tambi\u00e9n una de las m\u00e1s desconocidas<\/strong>. Gracias al desarrollo de nuevas tecnolog\u00edas que permiten detectar radiaci\u00f3n infrarroja, podemos obtener abundantes datos para realizar estudios del bulbo, ya que el infrarrojo cercano nos permite observar a trav\u00e9s de las concentraciones de polvo y gas de alta densidad que bloquean la luz visible proveniente de las estrellas (los astr\u00f3nomos decimos que el polvo \u201cextingue\u201d la luz visible mucho m\u00e1s que la infrarroja). Esta misi\u00f3n es cumplida exitosamente por el <em>Survey<\/em> <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vvvsurvey.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vista Variables in the V\u00eda L\u00e1ctea (VVV)<\/a>, que utiliza el telescopio VISTA del Observatorio Paranal y nos provee datos m\u00e1s precisos y detallados que todos los Surveys anteriores.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A medida que nos alejamos del centro gal\u00e1ctico, la densidad de estrellas va disminuyendo. En particular, la regi\u00f3n de transici\u00f3n del bulbo al halo es muy interesante, pues cuenta con alta densidad estelar y baja extinci\u00f3n. Esta regi\u00f3n se encuentra poblada por estrellas viejas, que son ideales para trazar la estructura de la Galaxia. <strong>Nuestra investigaci\u00f3n se enfoca en la b\u00fasqueda de estrellas azules de la \u201crama horizontal\u201d (una regi\u00f3n especial en los diagramas color-magnitud, muy apreciados por los astr\u00f3nomos), esta \u00faltima corresponde a una fase evolutiva de la vida de las estrellas donde tienen luminosidad constante, lo que las hace ideales para estimar distancias.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Las viejas estrellas azules de la rama horizontal tienen masas similares a la del Sol, son pobres en elementos qu\u00edmicos m\u00e1s pesados que el helio, el cual utilizan para producir energ\u00eda por combusti\u00f3n en su n\u00facleo y son muy numerosas. Por esta \u00faltima caracter\u00edstica quisimos determinar si estaban agrupadas en c\u00famulos, estudiando su distribuci\u00f3n espacial en conjunto con algunas simulaciones a fin de encontrar concentraciones. Los resultados nos indican que existe una distribuci\u00f3n espacial bastante homog\u00e9nea, con algunas peque\u00f1as sobre-densidades pero que no son suficientes como indicio de c\u00famulos globulares.<\/p>\n<p>Por otro lado, quisimos determinar si estas estrellas presentan variaciones de brillo en el tiempo, estudiando sus curvas de luz, que es un gr\u00e1fico de la intensidad de la luz de un objeto en funci\u00f3n del tiempo a partir de m\u00faltiples observaciones. \u00a0Concentr\u00e1ndonos en la luz de longitudes de onda dentro de la banda infrarroja Ks, encontramos un total de 7665 estrellas variables, a las que pudimos determinar algunas propiedades como por ejemplo su amplitud y per\u00edodo de variabilidad<strong>. Dentro de esta muestra, detectamos un total de 336 estrellas que corresponden a sistemas binarios eclipsantes, en las que la variaci\u00f3n de brillo se produce porque la \u00f3rbita de las estrellas est\u00e1 orientada con relaci\u00f3n a nosotros de tal forma que las estrellas se eclipsan mutuamente cuando la recorren.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Las estrellas binarias se pueden clasificar seg\u00fan qu\u00e9 tan cerca est\u00e1 una de la otra. Encontramos 42 estrellas binarias t\u00e9cnicamente conocidas como tipo \u201cEA\u201d, que son las que se encuentran totalmente separadas una de la otra. 119 binarias de tipo \u201cEB\u201d que son aquellas que est\u00e1n tan cerca entre s\u00ed, como para que una de sus componentes transfiera materia a la otra y 175 binarias de tipo \u201cEW\u201d que son las que se encuentran en contacto y por tanto pueden ocurrir transferencias de masa mutuas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Estos resultados, abren una ventana para nuevas investigaciones que nos permitir\u00e1n conocer en mayor detalle la Galaxia donde vivimos.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18380\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18380\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.astrofisicamas.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/2018_10_11_KMONTENEGRO_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-18380 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.astrofisicamas.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/2018_10_11_KMONTENEGRO_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-18380\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Curva de luz de binaria eclipsante de tipo EW encontrada en este estudio.<\/figcaption><\/figure>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Por Katherine Montenegro Armijo, estudiante de doctorado MAS y de la Universidad Andr\u00e9s Bello\u00a0<\/p>","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":29149,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_coblocks_attr":"","_coblocks_dimensions":"","_coblocks_responsive_height":"","_coblocks_accordion_ie_support":"","_eb_attr":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[59],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-18377","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-columnas"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
