A pesar de ser el cuerpo que orbita m\u00e1s cercano al Sol, no es el m\u00e1s caliente. Esto se debe a que no posee una atm\u00f3sfera que regule su temperatura y atrape el calor. Su superficie se muestra altamente craterizada debido a la gran cantidad de impactos de asteroides y cometas, la mayor\u00eda de los cuales cayeron hace aproximadamente 3800 millones de a\u00f1os atr\u00e1s.
