Both Coyhaique and Rapa Nui will be involved in collaborative activities to bring details of the eclipse to the local population.

Chile will have a new opportunity to experience a solar eclipse, after the extensive eclipse season experienced in 2019 (Atacama Region), 2020 (Araucan\u00eda Region) and 2021 (Antarctica). However, this time it is a annular solar eclipse<\/strong>The Moon is characterised by the fact that it is not able to block out the entire Sun, producing a ring of sunlight known as the \"Ring of Fire\".<\/p>\n

This annular eclipse, which will be experienced on 2 October, will be visible mainly in Rapa Nui and in some areas of the Ays\u00e9n Region.<\/strong>mainly in the Laguna San Rafael National Park.<\/p>\n

In this context, MAS and its outreach programme ObservaMAS will carry out various activities in the areas benefiting from this incredible astronomical spectacle. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Coyhaique<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Although in Coyhaique the eclipse will be partial, the Sun will be covered by a large percentage (84%). That is why the Municipality<\/strong> <\/a>of that commune, together with Future Congress<\/a> in your community<\/strong>, INJUV Ays\u00e9n<\/strong><\/a> and the millennium institute of astrophysics<\/strong> have organised a series of activities for the local community. The activity \"Ring of Fire in Patagonia<\/strong>will start at 10 AM with a talk by astronomer MAS, Tracy Catal\u00e1n<\/strong> in the Pedro Quintana Mansilla School<\/strong> for boys and girls in seventh and eighth grade. In addition, the \"Eclipses\" workshop will be held for fifth and sixth grade students, where they will be invited to build a model to understand how these phenomena work. Afterwards, they will move to the John Paul II Secondary School<\/strong> where two new workshops will be held for students of this establishment. The activity will be marked by a talk by the astronomer and populariser Juan Carlos Beam\u00edn<\/strong> at 15:30 hours. This will be followed by observation of the maximum of the eclipse from 17:00 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n

Rapa Nui<\/h2>\n\n\n

In addition to these actions in the region of Ays\u00e9n, the MAS Director Francisco F\u00f6rster <\/strong>moved to Rapa Nui<\/strong> to take part in a series of activities, organised by the Planetario de Rapa Nui<\/strong><\/a>the Direcci\u00f3n de Turismo<\/strong><\/a> of the island and the Center of Excellence in Astrof\u00edsica y Tecnolog\u00edas Afines CATA<\/strong><\/a>. F\u00f6rster will give the talk \"Eclipses\" at the Planetarium on Tuesday 1 at 18:00 (local time) and then be part of a live broadcast of the event from the Tahai area.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
